The Big Weekend

It doesn't seem possible that four years have passed since Anne left for college, and yet here we are ready to travel to Portland for a weekend filled with graduation parties and ceremonies. She's graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing degree from the University of Portland School of Nursing, Maxima Cum Laude. I know her mom and papa are proud.

I can't believe that it's been ten years since her papa and I married. I think back to the 12 year old little girl who was so angry, so unhappy, and who most definitely did not want her papa to remarry. My heart ached for her, and I had hoped that love and time would help heal our relationship. That perhaps she might even come to think of me as a second mom. Well love and time has healed our relationship, and while she may not think of me as a second mom I know I can count her as my friend. She's grown into a compassionate, intelligent woman who is beautiful inside and out.

I'm so proud of you Anne. Congratulations on your graduation.
